The purpose of this book is to give instruction to the first time or novice whittler.  Whittling is the art of shaping wood with a knife.  This should not be confused with carving, which is done with a chisel.  If the reader takes the time to work through all the instructional cuts and completes all 14 of the included Boy Scout neckerchief slide patterns in order, they will gain a great deal of knowledge and skill in the art of whittling.

Decoupage slides are an economical solution to having a “custom” neckerchief slide or woggle. The artwork on our decoupage slides is printed onto quality card stock. The design is permanently glued to a wood disc. The entire slide is then coated with several layers of a polyurethane finish. The finish will last for many years under normal use. These slides are a great way to commemorate any special event. They can also be used for individual Patrol, Troop, Den or Pack slides. Simply email us your design and Scoutguy.com will create your slide. We can also do the design work for you at no charge. Just send us your basic idea. All artwork will have to be approved by you before the slides are completed. Registered trademarks cannot be used in the designs without expressed written consent from the trademark holder. Decoupage slides can be crafted as either traditional slides for wear with a neckerchief, or as bolo ties. The price listed is for a basic round shape, 1 3/4″ diameter. Other shapes are available with a price on request. The photo is only examples of some of the decoupage slides we have done. None of these slides are actually for sale.

Bolo ties are available if you prefer to wear a tie as opposed to the traditional neckerchief slide.

Most neckerchief slides in our ‘hand carved slides” section can be modified to become a bolo tie.　 Please email which slide you would like and we will let you know for sure if it can become a bolo before you order.　 Email us if you have any other questions also.

The cords on our bolos are brown braided leather with gold tips.
